Imphal, September 16 2021: AIMS volunteers carried out anti-tobacco drive and recovered large quantity of tobacco products from several shops in Imphal city areas on Thursday.
AIMS finance secretary Surash Thokchom said that the students' organisation has been continuously carrying out such drives to save the younger generation from the clutches of drugs and other intoxicating items.
The government had also put restrictions on the sale and use of tobacco products to curb the spread of Covid-19, the release added.
However, as tobacco products continued to be sold without any restrictions in the Imphal city area, its volunteers carried out drives and seized tobacco products from shops in Ngari Galli and Alu Galli-da, the secretary said in release.
AIMS also appealed to the government to take stern actions against those perpetrators who are still selling tobacco products despite government restrictions.
