Stop dumping waste along Porompat DC Road at night, warns DC IE

Imphal, September 15 2021: As a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, District Water and Sanitation Committee, Imphal East district has launched 'Swachhta hi Seva, 2021' which will be held for 15 days.

The programme has been organised under the aegis of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India and Public Health Engineering Department, Govt of Manipur.

The programme started by cleaning the road sides of Porompat DC Road and a rally was carried out from DC Office Porompat till Porompat Ayangpalli Crossing carrying the message to keep the Imphal East district clean.

Imphal East DC, Khumanthem Diana Devi, Adhakshya of Imphal East district Zilla Parishad, P Bimola Devi, EE of PHED IE, Bishwajit and Additional SP, IE, Roni and other top officials also attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Kh Diana Devi said that 'Swachhta hi Seva, 2021' has been launched to keep the Imphal East district clean.


She further maintained that the dust bins are kept at the road sides of Porompat DC road by Gram Panchayats so that the commuters along this road can throw waste materials.

Such bins are not kept to dump waste from households, shops, hotels etc which is a common practice especially during night time, she added.

The DC warned that if anyone is found dumping waste at night, they will be fined and appropriate actions will be taken up against them as per law.

Lastly she appealed to all to act as a responsible citizen and help in keeping our surroundings clean.
