Imphal, September 15 2021: Imphal Municipal Corporation ward no 26 former corporator Meibon Phaomei inaugurated Lunglailu Rongmeilu Memorial Park, a recreational facility for elderly people, at Chingmeirong Kabui village on Wednesday in the presence of Chingmeirong Kabui Women's Society secretary Daimei Angakpi.
The park has been developed by the former corporator with active support of Chingmeirong Kabui Women's Society in memory of Lunglailu Rongmeilu, who was killed mercilessly by her husband in May 2017, with the hope of spreading the message of stopping domestic violence.
The development of the park took two months.
While inaugurating the park surrounded by recently planted tree saplings, Meibon Phaomei said that the park will not only provide a recreational space to the elderly people but also a healthy space for youth with the open gym equipment installed there.
He also assured of constructing a foot path in the park.
