Saplings planted under 'Shanghanlashi Iramdam' mission

Imphal, September 05 2021: A mass tree plantation programme was held at Lamjing Meira Robinhood Road today as a part of the series of mass plantation drive initiated by Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) under the theme 'Shanghanlashi Iramdam' .

Around 250 fruit tree saplings were planted today by the volunteers of CCSK in association with the meira paibis of the locality, said a press release by CCSK.

In connection with the programme, a simple function was held at Top Makha Leikai Community Panthoibi Sanglen attended by Upa Adhyakshya of Imphal East, Kshetrimayum Tama Devi, president of CCSK, Jeetendra Ningomba, vice president of CCSK, M Ekashini Devi, Ward Member 5 (Top Dusera), Th Angoubi Leima and Ward Member (Top Dusera) and Yumnam Tamna Leima as the presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Jeetendra Ningomba stressed on the need for collective efforts to maintain the ecological balance and to conserve nature for the wellbeing of all living beings.

He further stated that global warming, a result of many unchecked damaging activities done to nature, have adversely affected the ecological balance posing hindrance in the survival of many living beings.

Therefore it is high time that one needs to do their bit to protect the earth from further deterioration and to strive for a more greener and better earth.

He also stressed on the importance to nurture the saplings for their healthy growth as the plants will contribute majorly in maintaining the ecological balance.

Kshetrimayum Tama said that the initiative of mass tree plantation drive of CCSK has been taken up with an aim to strive for a greener Manipur and appealed to all to refrain from resorting to any activities which may harm the nature.
