Imphal, August 26 2021: Manipur Pollution Control Board chairman and Oinam MLA L Radhakishore has said that a mini solid waste management plant will be constructed in Churachandpur district as part of board's programme to monitor and control pollution in every district of the state.
Speaking during the launch of an ambient air quality monitoring station set up as part of National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme at DC Churachandpur office complex on Wednesday, Radhakishore noted that Churachandpur has produced more solid and biomedical waste due to increasing population and development works thereby affecting the natural environment.
This has necessitated effective management of waste and such the Board decided to set up a mini solid waste plant for the district, he said and appealed the people to donate land for the same.
The chairman also informed that construction and other works including finance are to be completely borne by the board.
Former agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian and additional DC Churachandpur S Saikhopao Mate also attended the event, among others.
