Brain storming session on "Loktak Lake Eco-Tourism Project" held

Imphal, August 21 2021: A one day brain storming session on the proposed "Loktak Lake Eco-Tourism Project" under externally aided project (EAP) to be funded by ADB (Asian Development Bank) was held today at Dynasty Hall, Classic Grande Hotel.

The session, organised by the Tourism Department was attended by Minister of Tourism, Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism, P Vaiphei, IAS, Director of Tourism W Ibohal Singh, MCS and Director of Fisheries, H Balkrisna Singh MCS amongst other heads/representatives of various line departments.

It may be mentioned that the proposed project, which is likely to cost around $ 288m, targets to sustainably restore and improved Loktak Lake eco system and eco-tourism development thereby enhancing the livelihood for the local communities and to alleviate poverty.

The concept plan of the project includes rules and regulation for construction of Jetty, bird sanctuary, hump bridge, rope way etc.

The session started with the introductory remarks by the Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, IAS after which W Ibohal Singh, MCS delivered brief notes on the project.

As part of the session, Project Management Consultants (PMC) presented PPT presentation on the project followed by interaction and clarification among the participants.

While appreciating the efforts of the chief secretary, PMC and heads/ representatives of the line departments - LDA, Forest, PWD, Water Resources, Pollution Control Board, Environment, Fisheries, Tourism etc., O Lukhoi Singh instructed the officers to give more effort in implementing this mega tourist project successfully so as to make Manipur a wonderful tourist hub.
