Bishnupur, August 09 2021: In connection with the upcoming 75th Independence Day celebration and Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, a tree plantation drive under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was organised by Rural Development & Works minister Thongam Biswajit under the aegis of Manipur Rural Roads Development Agency at Toupokpi in Bishnupur district on Monday.
During the drive, Bishnupur DC Krishnakumar, SP Hopson Sapam, ADM H Bobby Sharma and top officials of Rural Development department planted tree saplings along the Toupokpi road.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Biswajit pointed out that works taken up by the government cannot be successful without the support of the people.
With regard to ongoing deforestation activities, the minister said that even if the government is unable to take up delayed projects immediately, it is working to provide alternative livelihood arrangements to all concerned.
