State regains Manipur Rajbari, Shillong plot

Imphal, August 13 2021: After the land plot of the historic Manipur Rajbari located at Redlands in Laitumkhrah Shillong has been handed over to the government of Manipur, CM N Biren has said that the government will construct a Manipuri Bhavan in the said plot.

On his social media post, CM N Biren said that the historic Manipur Rajbari belonged to Maharajah of Manipur.

Maharaja Bodhchandra stayed at the Rajbari at the time of signing the Manipur Merger Agreement to the dominion of India on 21st September 1949.Informing that the plot measuring 1.93 acres at Redland has been handed over to government of Manipur after a series of negotiations with the Meghalaya government, CM Biren continued that the plot has been allotted on payment of premium of Rs 91,04,784 .

The plot finally belongs to Manipur after decades of struggle, he maintained, while adding that the state government has decided to build a Manipur Bhavan on the said plot.
