Moirang, August 06 2021: The second Air Pollution Monitoring Station of the State was opened today at the top floor of Bishnupur Mini Secretariat Block B .
The station was inaugurated by Oinam AC MLA L Radhakishore to detect of signs of air pollution early.
Speaking on the occasion L Radhakishore said the station was installed as per a direction from the Central Government and under the initiative of National Green Tribunal.
He added that the climatic condition of Manipur has changed a lot in the last couple of years, but Bishnupur still seems to be unaffected by the changes as agricultural produce and rainfall continues to be normal in the region.
Dr Roshan Singh, Environmental Engineer, Manipur Pollution Control Board said the station was the second of 14 such stations planned forthe State and it will collect samples for 108 days in a year.
The programme was also attended by Krishna Kumar (IAS), DC Bishnupur, ADM H Bobby Sharma and other officials from District Administration.
