Ukhrul, August 08 2021: Continuing its community outreach programme, Shangshak Police Station on Saturday conducted a tree plantation drive at Ramva village in Ukhrul district.
Themed "Our Survival Depends on Survival of Plants and Animals", the drive was organised by Shangshak Police station in coordination with Ukhrul Forest Division, and village authority and Student's Union of Ramva village.
Speaking on the occasion, Ukhrul DFO Shanngam Shali lauded Shangshak Police station for initiating the programme.
He said that trees are an indispensable part of life on earth and that plantation is a positive way to increase their number.
He also urged the villagers to continue plantation activities in the coming days.
According to Shangshak OC H Chiphang, around 500 numbers of ornamental tree species were planted in and around the premises of JNV Ramva.
He said that this was the second community outreach programme organised under Shangshak Police's initiative.
The first was conducted at Patkai Christian Academy along Ukhrul-Imphal route.
