Imphal, August 09 2021: International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples was observed by many organisations in the State today.
Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) observed the day under the theme 'Leaving no one behind: Indigenous people and the call for a new social contract' in a simple ceremony held at the head office of AIMS today.
AIMS in a press release said that the day is an important one for all the indegenous people and should uphold the culture and tradition of the indigenous people with highest regard and concerted efforts is needed to uplift the indigenous people across the world.
Meetei Students' Association (MSA), Manipur University also held a virtual discussion programme in connection with the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples today afternoon presided by its president, Chongtham Deepu and consultant, Laishram Wangthoi.
Many speakers talked on topics related with the indigenous people during the virtual discussion, said a statement by MSA.
Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council also held a virtual meet on the occasion of International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples today.
