Kakching, July 28 2021: Personnel of Kakching Range and Pallel and Waikhong Beat Offices led by Kakching Range Forest Officer Naorem Munal Meitei carried out drive seized 46 bird traps and eight nets from Lamhao Maning Pat on Wednesday, which also happens to be World Nature Conservation Day.
The perpetrators who set the traps managed to escape by taking advantage of rainfall and poor road condition.
Speaking in this regard, Munal pointed out that July 28 is observed as "World Nature Conservation Day' across the world and is regretful that bird traps and nets were laid on the day when the whole world is united towards conservation of mother nature.
Even though Manipur has been excelling in diverse fields, it is quite low in protection and conservation of wild birds, animals and nature, he said.
Referring to the recent devastating flood in China, drought and increase in temperature in the US, natural disasters in Dharmasala of Himachal Pradesh and Raigada in Maharashtra, Munal said that such destructive events are signs of precaution against recklessness of human to the environment.
He further urged the people to join hands and conserve nature and its environment for the future generations.
