IBSD celebrates World Environment Day

Imphal, June 05 2021: The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) has celebrated World Environment Day by organising a webinar on "Promotion and protection of Bio-resources" in virtual mode, today.

World Environment Day is celebrated across the globe to mark the importance of nature and environment and to highlight the importance of the environment.

This year, the theme of World Environment Day 2021 is 'Reimagine.

The webinar was participated by eminent resources persons from Government organisations, academia, institutes and environmentalists to share their ideas about promotion and protection of Bioresources.

The main focus of the programme was to create awareness about the importance of bioresources in protecting 'our environment and to improve the socio-economic condition of the region,' said IBSD in a statement.

The programme was addressed by Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal.

Eminent resource persons including Prof KRS Sambasiva Rao, VC, Mizoram University, M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman, Manipur Development Society, Dr Anamika Gambhir, DBT and Coordinator, IBSD, Dr Ajay Parida, Director, ILS, Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director, CSIR-IHBT, Dr Manoj K Modi, DBT and Nodal Officer, IBSD, Prof R Uma Shaanker, GKVK, Prof ZaveiHiese, Director, NIST and M Loiya Ngamba graced the event and shared their views about protection of the environment.

Scientists, research scholars and students from various organisations too attended the programme.
