Sensitization programme on 'Kharungpat wetland, Manipur' held by ENVIS HUB MANIPUR

Kakching, April 19 2021: As a part of Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav celebration marking the 75th Anniversary of India's independence, a sensitization programme on how to preserve Kharungpat wetland was held at Wabagai Tera Urak Ima Kalika Community Hall, Kakching, yesterday.

Manipur State Wetlands Authority, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India in collaboration with Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Hub Manipur, Loktak Development Authority, Manipur Pollution Control Board, Malem Chaokhat Lup (Machal) Wabagai, Eco Clubs and Modern College Porompat Imphal, NSS Unit jointly organised the 'Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav Kharungpat Wetland, Manipur' .

The programme was attended by M Jayentkumar, Zilla Parishad Wabagai; Y Hemchand, Pradhan Wabagai GP; H Kishwarjit, president, MACHAL Wabagai; N Bhubon, Assistant Professor, Modern College; Dr A Sanatomba, economist; L Arunkumar, Scientific Officer, Loktak Development Authority (LDA); Kh Tombi, scientist 'C' Manipur Pollution Control Board & coordinator Eco Club Manipur and Dr L Bijen Meitei, Development Officer, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change.

LDA Scientific Officer, Haobijam Dhamendra Singh; Modern College Porompat, Assistant Professor Zoology, Dr Sh Ranjit Singh and Jadonang Memorial College Noney, Assistant Professor Zoology, Dr Y Motilan Singh were the resource persons of the programme participated by the students & teachers of Pole Star School Wabagai Hiyanglam and Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, villagers of Wabagai and Kharungpat.
