Dr Th Radheshyam lays foundation stone for 9 water supply projects

Thoubal, April 05 2021: As a part of the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, foundation stone for 9 different water supply projects were laid today by MLA of Heirok Assembly Constituency Dr Thokchom Radheshyam at Heirok A/C in Thoubal district. With an aim to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual tap connections to every household of Heirok A/C, 14 different water supply projects will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crores and the 9 projects for which the foundation stones were being laid today is a part of the first phase of the project. Addressing the gathering at the community hall in Heirok Part I, Umang Laikol, Dr Th Radheshyam said that Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme for Heirok A/C is being inaugurated today under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Biren Singh with an aim to provide safe drinking water to every household of the constituency. The 80 crore project for Heirok A/C will be taken up in two phases, he added. He continued that the locals for Heirok A/C will be engaged for the different water supply projects to be taken up and the Ministry concerned has also approved for the same. Such an initiative will provide employment to many in the constituency who are left jobless due to COVID-19 pandemic, he added. Further he called for peace and harmony among the locals in order to strive for a developed society rather than creating animosity. Stressing on the various developmental projects taken up during his tenure in Heirok A/C with the support and cooperation of the locals, he said that the constituency is developing at a fast pace as compared to previous years. Talking about the new projects which are underway, he said that the road from Heirok till Inganglok will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore, an engineering college and a training institute under National schemes are being constructed in Khangarok and a Navodya School will also be constructed at Saram Ching in Salungpham. Further he appealed to all not to believe in false political propaganda instead work earnestly for a developed constituency giving special emphasis on the needy and down trodden. Today's programme was organised by Village Water Supply and Sanitation Committee Heirok A/C and was attended by president of BJP Heirok Mandal Thokchom Chourajit, Upadhyaksha of Thoubal district T Nungshi, Pradhan of Heirok-III GP Ningthoujam Tangba and executive engineer of PHED Thoubal Kh Somorjit as presidium members among others.
