Kakching, January 17 2021: Bio-diversity Ecology and Environment Network, Manipur (Bee Net), in connection with its annual general body meeting, conducted a flora and fauna survey at Angan Ching Eco Park, Kakching today.
The programme was attended by former VC in-charge of Manipur University, Prof W Bishwanath and Dean of School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, MU, Prof N Rajmuhon as presidium members.
Brand Ambassador of Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission, Elangbam Valentina and Kshetrimayum Surjit, convenor of Angan Ching Eco Park management committee were also felicitated with simple gifts in recognition of their love and contributions towards preserving the environment during the function.
New office bearers of BEE NET, Manipur were also named at the occasion which was attended by many scholars of Manipur University besides conducting flora and fauna survey at the Angan Ching Eco Park under the supervision of subject experts.
Highlighting the initiatives of BEE NET towards preserving and conserving natural environment across the State, W Bishwanath has called on all to carry on the idea of planting two trees at the time of cutting one to ensure that ecological balance is hot disturb.
Planting two at the same time will also increase the abundance of trees to feed our needs, he continued.
Environmental issues continue to persist across the globe as the global population is outnumbered by people who lack environmental consciousness and work only towards feeding their own needs, he said.
The issue can only be settled once awareness of the ill effects and significance of conserving the environment is widely inculcated, he continued.
