Senapati, March 01 2021: The NSS Unit of Don Bosco Higher Secondary, Maram has today kicked off the observation of 'Water Conservation Week' under the supervision of NSS Program Officers Sr Sonal CCV and Gaanpatrei Kamei.
The opening ceremony of the observation programme which will continue till March 7 was held at the school assembly ground with Ff NJ Cyriac SBD, rector and parish priest as the chief guest who symbolically declared the 'Water Conservation' week open by pouring water into an empty pot.
He encouraged the students to reduce, reuse and recycle the water on the occasion.
Fr Paul Adahe SDB, Principal of the school inspired and propped up the students to continue to work together to spread the message of water conservation for the betterment of the earth.
The NSS volunteers put up a beautiful mime demonstrating 'How we waste water and what are its consequences'.
The students and staff of the school applauded the beautiful mime and pledged to conserve water.
The water conservation week will be featuring a rich variety of activities such as Essay Competition, Poster Making and Painting competition on the theme 'Valuing Water' .
The event aims to help the students understand the negative impacts of climate change on water resources and to encourage them to make further efforts to save water and help build a water conservation culture in the community.
