N Munal Meitei, Range Forest Officer said the black kite (Milvus migrans) is found in temperate and tropical areas.
The black kite is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors.
It is thought to be the world's most abundant species of Accipitridae, however, its sighting has decreased over the years in Manipur.
The bird of prey plays an important role in maintaining the ecological balance and people should not hunt or poach but protect the wildlife, said N Munal.
