Thoubal, January 07 2021: A one-day training cum interaction programme on 'Cultivation of Rabi Crops for doubling farmers income' was conducted at Heirok Keithel in Thoubal district yesterday.
The training programme for farmers conducted jointly by the Directorate of All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Cotton under Central Agricultural University, Imphal and Seva Bharati, Manipur was graced by Dr Soibam Basanta, Director, Instruction and Research, CAU.
Speaking at the occasion, S Basanta said that cultivation of rabi crops post kharif harvest should be encouraged to the farmers so as to help double their income and largely in realising the vision of self sustainability as envisioned by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
In line with the vision, CAU is assisting in organising such a training programme to sensitize farmers about the cultivation of rabi crops in a proper way and other helpful inputs, he said while asserting that the country will be developed and moved forward only after farmers attain growth.
CAU, Imphal is keen on sharing helpful ideas and is ready to provide varieties of seeds of productive and high yielding rabi crops to help farmers of the local area earn a good yield, he continued.
The programme was also attended by Deputy Director for Research at CAU, Dr Th Robindro and Scientist, Dr Pramseh Kh; Horticulture expert (Technical Assistant) L Jamini and other experts who highlighted various cultivation techniques and ideas to the farmers.
