Awareness programme on environment held

Imphal, December 09 2018: Directorate of Environment, Government of Manipur in association with Human Rights and Social Development Organisation, Lamlongei Lamjing Lamtak Lup, Lamlongei YaiphaThouda Nupi Lup and LYPOC organised an environment awareness camp at Lamlongei Mayai Leikai community hall, today.

Speaking at the event as chief guest, Imphal East Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha P Bimola stressed the importance of maintaining clean and healthy environment to promote growth of society.

She called for collective efforts in conserving and preserving environment and as well an end to rampant and uncontrolled use of plastic products for greater good to mankind.

Director, Directorate of Environment Dr Y Nabachahdra, who attended as the guest of honour, highlighted the changing environment/climate in Manipur and stressed that the preservation of environment needs collective efforts of the people and sensitisation of all on the impact of global warming and other environment degradation related issues.

He urged the locals to preserve the water bodies in and around Lamlongei, stating that preservation of wetland is a must in fighting climate change.

Lamlongei Lamjing Lamtak Lup president W Khelen attended the event as'president with Luwangshangbam GP Pradhan S Angou, Human Rights and Social Development Organisation secretary S Raj en and Lamlongei Ema Panthoibi Thougal Lup president N Lakhsana as dignitaries.
