National Science Day observed

Imphal, March 01 2017: The State Biotech Hub, Department of Bio Chemistry and Library and Information Science, Manipur University has observed the National Science Day under the theme "Science & Technology for specially abled persons" yesterday at the conference hall of Library Building, MU Campus.

Prof Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University graced the function as the chief Guest while Dr Khomdon Singh, Librarian, Manipur Cultural University and Prof N Rajmuhon Singh Dean, School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences were the president and guest of honour of the programme.

A book on the eve of National Science day was also released by Prof Pandey.

Speaking at the programme, Prof Pandey said that Prof CV Raman was the real messenger of 'Make in India' .

Dr Devananda Head, Biochemistry highlighted the contribution and achievement of Prof CV Raman and the importance of his works in the present context.

Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Imphal Chapter also celebrated the National Science Day in the afternoon at Senate hall, Earth Sciences Building, MU Campus.

At the function, Prof Rajmuhon Being recounted the biography and struggle of Prof CV Raman in achieving his goals and international recognition.

"CV Raman was the first Indian scientist from Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India to receive the Nobel Prize," he said.

Prof Arun Kumar, former General Secretary (ISCA) said that the National Science Day is the only encouraging event for the young scientists and scholars to build their future in the field of science and technology
