Kakching, January 11 2022: Forest Range Office, Kakching and its beat office staffers continued drive to save migratory birds flocking to wetlands in Kakching district for feeding and roosting during winter season.

As a pfart of the drive, the staffers carried out drive at Khoidumpat, Lamjao Maningpat and Pumlenpat and also organised awareness programme at the nearby localities on Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines, Assistant Conservator of Forests Naorem Munal Meetei pointed out that Kakching is one of the districts which has highest number of Wetlands.

The reports of poaching migratory birds have decreased for some time because of the efforts being made by the forest department staffers.

However, with the nearing of the election, there are reports of trapping and poaching the migratory birds.

As such, the drive to save migratory birds has begun.

Fortunately, no bird's nets and traps were found during the drive, he added.
